• B) The patients tidal volume and inspiratory flow rate

At an oxygen flow rate of 2 l/min the oxygen concentration in the hypopharynx of a resting person is approx 28%, at 4 l/min it is 36%. 

The Nasal Cannula prevents rebreathing and is comfortable for long periods of time.

There is increased patient compliance with the nasal cannula as patients are able to speak, eat or drink.
