Celebrating Women’s Achievements at SP Services!

Celebrating Women’s Achievements at SP Services!

International Women’s Day is a worldwide event that celebrates women’s achievements, from the political to the social, whilst calling for gender equality and it is celebrated every year on the 8th March which aims to bring together governments, women's organisations, corporations, charities and business’ around the globe.

This year’s International Women’s Day 2020 has a theme of #EachforEqual with the vision that an equal world is an enabled world. We are all responsible individually for our own thoughts and action – all day, every day. Therefore, we can actively choose to challenge stereotypes, fight bias, broaden perceptions, improve situations and celebrate women’s achievements.

Here at SP Services we’re going to do just that… Celebrate the achievements of some of the amazing women that work for our company and strive everyday in helping grow SP to where it is today.

Why celebrate women’s achievements?

On Friday 8th March, the world globally celebrates women and in particular their achievements. Everyone has his or her own definition of success and success looks different to everyone. Some women may identify success with having a certain level of income or title within a company, whereas for others succeeding to them might mean having time to pack lunch for their children every day or running 15 miles a week.

We are empowering our team to judge their accomplishments against their own ideals and not to compare with others, and to celebrate every step that gets them closer to their own definition of success. Also acknowledge that other women’s achievements are based on parameters that may be different to their own.

Let’s meet the team and celebrate some of their achievements…

First up, our Social Media Manager, Katie Angilletta, having been a very active member in the roller derby community this year she has chosen to be apart of the coaching team for England Men’s Roller Derby for the 2020 World cup in the… USA! Go Katie!

After just returning from her maternity leave, our Marketing Manager, Vicki Blair decided whilst on maternity leave to learn simple first aid skills for babies and children by completing a Children’s First Aid Course so that she would feel confident to help in an emergency. 3 cheers for Vicki!

Jules Sarginson, our Business Development Team Leader has always been very sporty and active and attends a Zumba class weekly. Her Zumba team called Zumba Warriors completed the 10k Mud Race for Life. As a team they raised a staggering £4,275.65 for Cancer Research and had great fun. After having a scare herself, having a benign tumor removed she felt that this was a great cause and so do we! Round of applause for Jules!

Our Business Development Account Manager who you all know and love Lucinda Culver, has recently passed her driving test AND completed a skydive in aid of the Armed Forces along with 3 other members of the team here at SP! Well Done Lucinda, great work!

Julia Crick from our Customer Services department is currently hiking her way through the 3 peaks challenge. Successfully completing both Snowdon and Scafell Pike last year, she is aiming to complete in May, 2020 with the final hike up Ben Nevis. Good Luck for the final hike Julia!

From our finance department we have Chloe Fletcher who has successfully completed her apprenticeship here at SP Services and is now working through her level 3 qualification in Business Administration. Congratulations Chloe & Good Luck for Level 3!

Kristina Culver who works in our warehouse raised £500 for Macmillan Cancer Support by shaving off all of her hair. Go Krissy!

Another member of our warehouse team and a star in our kitting area Violetta is a keen runner and has recently ran a 10k. Well Done Violetta!

Last but by no means least, our Operations Director, Jane Wilson along with Lucinda completed a skydive in aid of the Armed Forces, became a director here at SP in 2018 and this year sees Jane celebrate 18 years working for SP. Jane has also been fundamental in setting up the apprenticeship programme at SP helping get young people in Telford into employment.

As you can see we have a super star team here at SP Services and we celebrate the achievements of all of our team all of the time, not just this week in the run up to International Women’s Day. But it is weeks like this that we can all reflect on our personal, work and social achievements and highlight the amazing work that we are all doing to contribute to the #EachforEqual world that we are aiming for.

Let us know your achievement by tweeting us @SPServices – we’d love to hear about what you've done to be proud of recently!

If you’re interested in working for our team we are always on the lookout for talented, dynamic, knowledgeable and smart people who want to work for a company that will provide good job opportunities and security.

We also take on a small number of apprentices each year in various departments including customer services, purchasing, marketing, finance and warehousing. Please contact Jane Wilson at jane.wilson@spservices.co.uk for further details on our apprenticeship scheme.
